JB is out of R

Postby jgemrich » Thu Dec 24, 2009 10:51 pm

From the AT boards

Hi my Friends,

After several months of silence, it is time for me to give you some news: as of yesterday, I'm officially and definitively no longer part of the company.

I want to say thank you to all of you, for all your support, your confidence and your passion for CONFRONTATION and AT-43 all these years, and for some of you for more than 10 years! I have really liked being on board with you, meeting some of you each year at conventions, sharing with you every day all this passion for the CONFRONTATION and AT-43 minis lines and gaming universes.

CONFRONTATION has definitively changed the face of the 30mm miniatures industry and the way of playing a miniatures game forever by becoming a standard. Nothing would happen without you and as the creator of the game and the miniatures lines, I want to personally say that you have been the best supporters a creator can have. You are great!

See you soon again!

Thanks for all guys.

Jean.

NB: Carlo, send me an email when you come to visit Paris. Scott, Aaron, Francis, Antoine, Tracy, Duncan, Nicolas, Johan, and a lot more you have been fantastic partners.

too sad. Now Rackham really has lost the last hope I've had for it.

Does anyone know what he wants to do now? And are all of the (former) creations of Rackham still in Rackham's ownership?

Too bad, I always had the impression that his vision was one of the foremost beneficial assets of the company from a creative point-of-view. In it's heyday Rackham took on and attempted to challenge Games Workshop - not an easy thing to do given GW's (entrenched) position on the market.

It'll be interesting to see how the future pans out both for RE and JB.

As to the last question - it all depends on what kind of legal agreements exist/existed between RE and JB. In all probability RE hold the rights, although I wouldn't really know. I guess that's one for the future to tell?

Well to be honest, I am not sad at all for him. Unless I am wrong and please correct me if I am. He helped kill off the best game around and the best miniature line overnight, and through arrogance ignored an entire community . So I have no sympathy.

The metal line id dead, the resin line is dead, the game is crap, so there is nothing left for them as I see it.

Must be a shame for JB to see something so wonderful that he helped bring to life fall to where it is today. I actually feel bad for the guy, even if he had a role in the company ending up where it did.

My sentiments as well. This is the nail in the coffin.

I can't find this on the AT-43 forums. Was it removed, perhaps?

I consider Jean a friend and I think he still have lots to give. Let him have some rest after this roller coaster and Im sure something cool will come up some time in the future.

From my point of view it wasn't Jean who ruined Rackham at all.

I don't know enough about the behind the scenes stuff to judge, but I admire creative people like JB.

I don't feel sorry for him, but not in the negative sense. I feel this is a good opportunity for him if he takes advantage to restart, and if we are lucky we will see more nice stuff from him.

I felt this way after Dragonrune had problems, and Felix P showed up again soon after with avatars... Wiser and better ;)

Seems the rats are leaving the sinking ship. Not that JB is a rat, but the saying does go like that.

If that man has any self-respect and respect for the fans he is going on about, he will stay away from this industry for many years, as he has lost the trust of many / most people involved in it. Whatever he starts now, I wish him good luck with it as long as it isn't a game based on miniatures ... any prospective customers will be disecting and questioning every move he makes and should he make a false one (like lying again) people will not hold back making the biggest laughing stock of him.

Well, now that the creative genius has left that sorry company ... let them burn! I'll bring the marshmallows :D
