Not so much a battle report as a format test, since it has been a month since the game, and my memory of the event may or may not be the best.
Basically the game was an excuse to bring out the big figures for a skirmish. Roughly 2350 points Side of Light (eventually composed of Lions, Dwarves, and the Wyrm) vs. roughly 3150 points Side of Darkness (Acheron, Dirz, Wolfen [assumed to be tainted], and the Tarascus,) in an assault on a small Light fortification. The end result of a pretty much direct assault was a draw in 4-5 rounds, with a few surprising turns along the way.
To start, the dwarves set in role-play mode to defend the forge area at the far end of the field and therefore had a bit of trouble reorienting to reinforce the defensive breastworks closer to the tower. However, as they moved up the reports from their steam cannon announced the TirnNaBor presence and made short work of more than one assaulting warrior.
On the opposite end of the trenches, the Dirz ended up unable to enter the central fray when the Tarascus piled into the Tower and blocked their advance. <The Wyrm used the opportunity created by the occupied headsmashings of the Tarascus to move in to position above it and trade fire with the enemy.> However, after several turns, <with> its fabled breath failed to finish the enemy titan <or put a signnificant dent in the advancing enemy line>, and with the tower <now> severely weakened, the route for the Wyrm was clear. With a bellow of fury it dropped from the sky on the Tarascus.
Here its fate was sealed, when the Dirz and the trailing undead rallied against it. After clones, bolstered by the power of faith, helped the Tarascus wounded the Titan of Light to just shy of dead, the Acheron necromancer following spells gave the final blow.
With the right and left flanks tied in relative indecision, due to placement and the outbreak of a titan fight, the fate of the field was to lay in the center and the success of failure of the assault by fast elements of the undead and the Wolfen horde versus the resistance of the Lion defenders. Early signs pointed to a clear victory for the attackers, as the second turn saw the Red Lioness unhorsed in a single fatal blow from an assaulting Worg. However, the core of the fight was shift to the hands of a surprisingly resilient Agonn, whose ragged command held a portion of the trenches to the end of the game.
